DRUGS & ALCOHOL
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Racing NSW established a Drugs & Alcohol Awareness Program to educate industry participants and provide valuable support.

PAT WEBSTER
Former jockey and metropolitan trainer Pat Webster is an accredited ambassador and mentor for the Drugs & Alcohol Program. Pat has extensive training in Community Services, specialising in drugs and alcohol related mental health issues and recovery processes.

Pat regularly holds mandatory workshops for apprentice jockeys in each region of NSW, which involve intensive discussions into all aspects of the dangers and effects of alcohol and drug usage. While the workshops are mandatory for apprentice jockeys, all industry participants are encouraged to attend.

“It is all about helping people in our industry to be aware of the damaging effects of drugs and alcohol and working together to help solve the problem” - Pat Webster

WORKSHOPS
It is a current requirement for all Apprentice Jockeys in NSW to attend a Drugs & Alcohol Awareness Workshop. Workshops are also regularly attended by Apprentices’ Masters, Jockeys and Racing Administrators in unified support for the valued initiative.

Accredited Ambassador Pat Webster will continue to tour each region of NSW throughout the year promoting the Drugs & Alcohol Program. To find out when Pat will be in your region, sign up to the Racing Mates email list or “LIKE” the Racing Mates Facebook Page for Event Updates.
