1/2/21

Racing Mates continues to unify Racing Industry participants, as demonstrated by anoPat Webster and Kevin Andersonther successful BBQ get-together held for Hunter North West Racing Participants at Tamworth on January 21st.

The Racing Mates objective of bringing Racing participants together for a chat, and empowering ‘mates to look out for mates’, provides opportunities for country members.

Tamworth-based racehorse trainer Cody Morgan was among many praising the Racing Mates initiative.

“To have Racing Mates ambassador Pat Webster come to Tamworth was even greater,” Morgan declared.

“Pat’s very relatable to myself and many other country-based racing participants and, is also very easy to chat to.

“Pat’s someone who young people look up to, and, has also been a great mentor to many participants through the Racing Mates program.”

Webster was joined by jockey Jason Collins, who assisted with BBQ duties on the day.

“We also appreciate the support of Chief Steward, Shane Cullen, who helped facilitate our BBQ on the day,” Webster said.

“The BBQ get-togethers that we host are all about bringing the racing industry together for a chat, and it’s clear that the participants really appreciate having their voices being heard.”

Racing Mates is a peer support initiative established by Racing NSW, empowering mates to look out for mates.

“Research has found that people are often more likely to initially reach out to a trusted peer or colleague for support,” Webster said.

“I, like all Racing Mates Ambassadors, are here to provide the link between those in need and the required support.”
